CNC Milling: 4-Axis & 5-Axis
From Die Castings and Blanks to Finished Parts

OVERVIEW
Don’t be fooled by our name! High Tech Turning has an extensive and productive CNC milling department.
Our 16 CNC milling centers are each equipped with either 4 or 5 axis capability so we can handle complex parts efficiently. We pride ourselves in using that capability to completely machine most parts in one operation. Our “One and Done” process results in the best overall accuracy and is the most cost-effective method of production.
Our cubic envelope for milling goes up to 14” X 12” X 8”.

FAQs
Don’t see your question? Contact us.
What is your typical lead time for prototypes and production runs?
Because of our efficient process, we’re typically able to meet or exceed the industry standard but every part is different. For a more specific custom timeline tailored to your needs, request a quote.
Can you provide First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)?
We can provide FAIR, multi-part inspection reports, and process validation studies. Our quality system is designed to handshake with customers’ quality systems and provide whatever reports are needed.
What file formats do you accept for CNC milling projects?
Our preferred file type is STEP, but we can also accept DXF and IGES. HTT uses SolidWorks and can also accept native SolidWorks files.
Can you identify potential milling issues in customer designs before quoting?
Yes! Each job is carefully reviewed by our team before we start production and if there’s a way we can improve the process, we will.
How often do you change tooling?
It varies by part, but we always meticulously monitor tool life and our tools are changed well before they’re worn out. For long-running jobs, we’ll develop a schedule to ensure that tools are changed on a regular basis and wear is a never factor.
Do you have a CMM or laser scanner for post-machining inspection?
We have multiple CMMs available to measure your part. We can utilize touch probes or vision capabilities. And we also maintain a library of calibrated gauges and measuring equipment for use in our robust inspection process.
Can you machine from castings?
Absolutely! Our machining process can enhance precision, tighten tolerances, and add more specific features that the casting process alone can’t achieve.
How do you handle custom tooling or special fixture requirements?
Custom work is no problem for us – we’re happy to address custom tooling and special fixtures during the quoting process.
