Our Process
Optimized for Efficiency & Uncompromised Quality

OVERVIEW
From the initial quote to the final packaging of finished parts, our team considers every detail at every step of production. Our manufacturing process is driven by exacting standards and best practices that have been carefully refined over four decades.
All of our employees work off of documented customer requirements so that the final product is delivered to your exact specifications. Our internal systems control, monitor, and document every day’s production so that you can be confident that the quality of your parts is consistent.
HTT provides certifications of all manufacturing output, including material certifications, plating certifications, and our own certificates of conformity for every shipment.
Process
Every part at HTT flows through a controlled engineering procedure ensuring that we can produce the component to specification in a reliable and cost effective machining process.
01. Contract Review

Our customers have high expectations for both quality and delivery. Over the last 40 years, we’ve developed systems to ensure no detail is overlooked and all of our customers’ requirements are met.
Project planning begins as soon as we receive a drawing. The specifications are reviewed by experts from each department to create a comprehensive plan to produce your part in a repeatable and cost-effective way. This ensures that when your job hits our manufacturing floor, we already have the right materials, the right tools, and the right gaging on hand so we can hit the ground running. The end result is consistent, highly accurate parts, delivered on time.

The “One and Done” Principle
Read More
The essence of High Tech Turning’s signature “One and Done” principle is machining as many surfaces of a part as possible in the first step of production, ideally finishing the part in a single operation.
The major payoff for “One and Done” is in the quality of the part produced. Since most parts at HTT are only fixtured one time, this avoids location errors from re-clamping and improves process stability. Not only is this the most cost-efficient method, but it results in shorter lead times as well.
Completing burr-free parts in one operation is integral to the modern Swiss machining process. Our machines have the ability to automatically rechuck the part in a subspindle to allow simultaneous machining of the front and back of a part.
HTT also uses advanced fixturing techniques to allow our 4- and 5-axis CNC milling centers to finish most parts in one operation. With clever programming and specialized tooling, we can complete your part without ever setting it down.

At High Tech Turning, we pride ourselves on delivering unmatched precision and reliability through our state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. Our facility is equipped with the latest CNC milling, turning, and programmable inspection equipment, engineered to hold extremely tight tolerances and produce exceptional, measurable repeatability.
But it’s more than just our equipment. Repeatability comes down to training, documentation, diligence, and teamwork. Our process guarantees that multiple experts are brought in on every job, checking and double checking to ensure everything meets your specifications.
Whether you’re in medical, electronics, aerospace, defense, or any high tech industry, our experienced team, advanced capabilities, and structured process means even the most complex parts are manufactured to your exact specifications every time.
04. Inspection
Read More
We don’t make something unless we can reliably measure it. That’s why we put so much effort into making sure we have state-of-the-art inspection equipment, well-trained operators and inspectors, and a controlled process.
We’ve refined our inspection process to a gold standard, giving you more QA touchpoints without compromising production efficiency. Parts are verified at multiple points during the manufacturing process and inspected by different operators to improve repeatability. We keep detailed, comprehensive records and can provide any type of inspection report, from full inspection reports with serialized parts, to capability studies, to SPC data collected throughout the job. We probably do more inspections than most shops, but it’s all part of our quality-focused mindset and commitment to going above and beyond for our customers.

05. Outsourcing
We Manage the Logistics So You Don’t Have To

Your parts sometimes require services that HTT doesn’t perform in-house. In these cases, we partner with local heat treaters, platers, and grinders to ensure your parts arrive fully finished. Our database of trusted vendors (link to Supply Chain) has been developed over 40 years. Each vendor provides certifications to prove their work meets the standards you require.
We’ll arrange for your materials to be transported, follow up on production timelines, and perform a thorough final inspection once your parts have been delivered back to our facility. Just sit back and let us provide the parts to you, complete with certifications to prove it.
06. Storage & Delivery
Make HTT Your Extended Warehouse
Read More
Our just-in-time (JIT) storage and delivery programs have saved the day for our customers more than once. Not only does it take the headache of managing inventory off your plate, but HTT’s stockroom capacity gives you the agility to meet your dynamic market demand without carrying the inventory yourself.
Once production and finishing have been completed, your parts are carefully packaged, labeled, and stored in a controlled environment with all records and certifications maintained. We can either ship right away or develop a custom stocking plan and ship at a later date to suit your needs.
FAQs

Can you handle tight turnarounds for urgent parts?
If you have a tight timeline, please let our project manager know about it and we’ll do our best to deliver your parts as quickly as possible. We’ll stay in close communication and keep you in the loop on our progress. We strive to exceed our customers’ expectations and work hard to anticipate their needs. Our stocking program allows us to arrange regular deliveries to keep customers on track and quickly ship urgent parts should the need arise.
How do you manage repeatability for high-precision parts?
High-precision is our bread and butter. We use the highest quality materials available for your parts and train our operators to monitor key characteristics to ensure accuracy and repeatability. Their work is double-checked by a team of inspectors who provide real-time feedback for continuous process improvement. In addition, we have several systems in place to keep our manufacturing and inspection equipment operating in peak condition, such as planned tool change intervals, regular equipment maintenance, and an ISO-certified calibration program.
What is your typical lead time for prototypes and production runs?
